Tattoos - they kill those cells too!

Discovered something new today - mastectomy art.  Breast cancer survivors celebrate life through incredible mastectomy tattoos! Freaking awesome.

Sometimes the resultant scars can become an emotional dead zone. A tattoo, however, can not only transform scars into art, the actual experience can create a tremendous positive shift in perception and meaning.

You don’t need special balls to survive cancer … some bad ass attitude with a bit of art are enough to kill those unwanted cells!

Sexier than any any Victoria's Secret!
Not all filigrees are delicate!
Angels lie within us, we just need to belief in ourselves!
Birds are always free, nothing can stop them ... not even cancer!
Who dares to stop a girl from wearing her pinks!
Smile - the biggest enemy of cancer cells!
Thats some serious kickass attitude!
My favourite ... love her attitude!
Some flowers are strong! Very strong!
The old soul barn owl, never bows down to unwanted cells!
As free as a butterfly!
Thats one helluva a proud peacock!
Literary a 'killer' smile!

Organ Donation - lets do it!

When I was in the ICU I would often hear a child’s voice  – she was my neighbour. I could hear her cry, laugh, talk and call out to this particular doctor ‘Uncle, please come … we will play games’. Her parents had given her their laptop and iPad so that she could play games. And there was this kind doctor who would often go out of his way to make her day! Sweet.

Hats off to Mumbai police, organ donors and doctors!

Later I learnt that, this 12 year old was admitted for a serious kidney disorder and had to under go a kidney transplant, her mother being the donor.  That’s when organ donation actually struck a serious cord with me. I mean, I always wanted to donate my eyes after seeing the Ashwariya campaign, but never got the time to turn my wish into action‼ Yeah, yeah I know … that was centuries ago! Pure couch potato attitude. But then, there is God. He watches over all couch potatoes. And when the time comes He slaps them and admits them in the ICU so that they learn their lessons. :P :P

So this year I celebrated my birthday by giving myself a special gift – I signed up for organ donation. I ticked marked on all the 11 boxes – Kidneys, liver, lungs, heart, pancreas, intestines, eyes, skin, ear drum, heart valve and bone ! Felt good J. Hopefully one day some soul/s will benefit from this act of mine. :D My first baby step towards serving humanity.

My donor card :D
It’s a simple process. I walked into the Hiranandani Hospital, went to the concerned department, filled up a form, and got my donor card! In 10 mins the entire procedure was done. So if you want to do the same just get in touch with a reputed hospital and do the needful.

Read this leaflet to get info about organ donation
There is a huge shortage of organs in India. Lets contribute and make someone's life beautiful. We can all do it. So, instead of carrying our organs to Heaven lets just create Heaven on Earth!

If you still have doubts about creating Heaven on Earth then please see this video ... how an organ donation can change someone's life! If you don't have doubts ... then watch it too ... it will inspire you to convince your friends for organ donation! The video is beautiful.

Tips:
When going for organ donation please take one of your family member as a witness is required. The witness has to be from the family.

Friends - they matter!

Today is Friendship Day.  Never have been the day so important as in this year. Friends are like the rock of Gibraltar in my journey with cancer. From the pre surgery days, to the surgery and now with chemo- they are always around. Just a phone call or a ping away. Some of them are far away from me in terms of physical distance … but who cares … their pings and chats and jokes and good wishes makes my day every day.

The mad hatters!
Today I’ll speak about those silent friends who encourage me by sharing their personal journey. They just appear in the horizon like a beautiful ray of hope, touch me with their drive for life  and let me blossom in my journey. Sometimes it’s just a chat or a ping that is required to connect.

Birthday parties and cousins were the best part of growing up!

A few days ago an old colleague called up – she said she had to talk to me. She too had a sudden rendezvous with cancer. It happened to her when she was all alone working abroad- imagine fighting a full sized ovarian cancer all by yourself in a foreign land! But she did … and today she is a winner!  We laughed when she said ‘I was working abroad for nine months and after nine months I delivered a baby called ovarian cancer’. Some people are just incorrigible when it comes to their zest for life.  Nothing seems to stop them from living a life of their choice. The best part is when you get that afternoon phone call from such a bubbly person- they make you laugh and realise that cancer is just another nonsense that needs to be shown the door! Amazing!

They can kill each other :P!

Then there was this chat from another friend – just an acquaintance on FB.  He shared his journey of a ghastly road accident and how it changed his life. I had tears in my eyes while chatting with him. I realised that journeys are never about the suffering or the torment, its more of a self discovery… who are you, why are you here, who are your real friends  … and finally its about making a choice and moving on. While he shared how he was taken for a ride by a close friend I shared how I was ditched like a piece of hot cake by 2 of my best friends a few years ago, simply because I did not fit into their hip and happening life anymore. The best advice I got -  ‘Ghatiya sath se accha hai imaandaar akelapan’. Acidic. Yes. But makes sense! I likes.  So many past trials are now falling into place and getting a closure.

School friends - nothing can beat them!

When a friend from the creative world good to know of my trial he wahtsapped and besides asking the mandate how are you types of questions shared an amazing insight … ‘Physical I m not sure. That you can tell me. But emotional trauma not there … I know about that. U r an artist. Artists cannot be ever traumatised. Plus you are our Debjani’ – such lovely words, they can only hasten the healing process.

The nautankies!

The point I am trying to make today is that share your journey … never conceal or suppress it    you never know where a beautiful soul is waiting to connect with you and motivate you to live life to the fullest!

Happy Friendship Day!
